I'm looking at buying a new quad rail for my AR.  I want to get a low profile gas block and a rail long enough to cover the gas block.  My question is on the length of the quad rail that I see on manufacture's websites.  My current quad rail is 6.5" long.  If I measure from the barrel nut to the end of the front site I get a length of 9".  So am I correct, that I need a mid length quad rail that is 9" long?  I've attached a picture for clarity.  I'm looking at the DD AR15 LITE Rail 9".

9" will be good but a lot of people do 12" for longer sight radius and more rail for a extended thumb over bore grip.

I agree with the above, and you sir get 10 arfcom points for knowing how to post pics and hotlink in your first post.

Welcome!

there is a 10" rail also.  I have 9, 10 and 12.   I prefer the DD Lite 10" to any of the rails I own.  But can't argue a convincing case for 10" being the best.
