Being a new owner of a Colt 6920, I was wondering what are the advantages of a Quad Rail forearm? I'm not sure why people use them?

So you can attach different light,grips, etc. I am partial to the ones that are flush with the rail on the upper, like the spikes sar or bar. If you don't have or need anything, it's just for looks.

I put a light on mine and that is it. Others like a forward grip and maybe a sling point.

I did think the rail looked cool, and I wanted to add goodies.
Edit: My M&P15 came with the Troy MRF rail, and I put a Magpul RVG on it, and a Surefire X300.

Rail mounted bottle opener. Once that came out, I had to get a quad rail.

Then the Ballista rail came out, and the game changed. One guy even rail mounted his Glock 19
