Ok. I know I want to do competition.(4 position and rapid and slow fire). Do I want  1:8 or 1:7? I will be shooting heavy grain(77+grain) bullets and also some 55 grain bullets.Bushmaster

Why?

because you want to use the longer 78gr so you need a tighter twist, while also shooting the shorter 55gr, I use a 1/7 and shoot 55 and the longer heavier stuff

1:7 and 1:8 will handle bullets up to 80gr. If you want to shoot the 90gr. you need at least 1:6.5
