I'm building a new AR in 6.8 and decided on a fixed A2 stock over a collapsable one. Do 6.8's need one of the H buffers, or will the standard one do just fine?

Usually the buffer is related more to the gas system, which is part of the barrel.  Shorter gas-> heavier buffer.

The funny part is the the buffer usually comes with the stock.  So you are probably going to get a standard one with your stock.

Now you said A2 stock, which is rifle stock, and there is no such thing as a rifle H buffer, unless you make one.  If you say H buffer or H2 or H3, thats a carbine size buffer.

Long story short, the standard one should be fine.

A rifle buffer is closer in weight to a H3 carbine buffer
