If I remove my front sight to put a folding sight on, do I have to get a gas block? Is a gunsmith required? Would I also need to extend the handguard? The handguard has four picatinny rails already.
Thanks all!! |

If I remove my front sight to put a folding sight on, do I have to get a gas block? Yes Except for a Bushmaster Dissipator. Tgen you just need to figure out how to retain the handguard cap. Usually a gas block does that well. Is a gunsmith required? Not necessarily, depends on your mechanical skill level and tools Would I also need to extend the handguard? The handguard has four picatinny rails already. Not necessarily. It depends on if you want to cover the gas block or leave it exposed. |
| You could get a folding front sight tower. This just replaces your FSB with one that flips. The gas block is an integral part of them. There are a few companies that make them, PRIs is a good one. ARMS makes a pretty good one that looks just like the standard front sight except it folds down. |
| ITs pretty easy to do if you do the research and get the tools. What you could do is get you a low profile gas block ($20) and a Yankee Hill Tube free float tube ($75) and a Magpul Front Sight for around $30 from Brightflashlight.com (ask for Kevin) and they'll do the work for you. |
