[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question - Colt ID

Is it possible to determine the model number or approximate age of this rifle from this crappy picture? The sale ad lists it as "Colt AR15 .223 Cal, Sporter Rifle w/Colt 3x23 Scope". What's its approximate value assuming it is in excellent condition?

If you call Colt with the serial number, they will tell you right over the phone.

Won't be able to look at the gun (and serial number) until Saturday - it's being sold at a public auction. II was hoping to do some research before I go. Will I be able to call Colt on a Saturday morning and actually talk to anyone?

Go online and try to find an estimated serial number range.
Try printing this off and bringing it along:
