I was wondering on the quality of Model1Sales.com I found them a while ago, but they didnt seem to have any of the brands listed. I was at the cavalry arms website, and it has model1sales.com as a link that sells their stuff. Just wondering about them cause I do like the selection they have and the prices they offer. Thanks. |

h8mtv - Funny your should mention the ejector spring. I took one of my Model 1's out yesterday and I had all kinds of FTE's. Turns out the "extractor spring" was bad. It cost me all of $2.35 and ten minutes to change but that is the only Model 1 part to fail for me so far. MadDog

Bolt cracked at 1400 rounds - found during routine maint by testing the fit of firing pin in the bolt, and noticing it slightly binding; ceaned it with some rubbing alchohol - in which as it quickly dired leaving the outside nice and dry - and they cracks dark black with alcky residue - takes longer for a crack to dry I called them and they said send it back - they would replace - but instead I kept as a display piece and ordered one from RRA - stripped bolt $25.00 - also looked better made, better machined - and darker finish - least on one I had The trigger was also a bit stiff - using parts from repair kit from bushmaster I replace the safety selector - hammer spring - trigger spring - disconnector - and its smooth as glass now :) I also replaced the "X-38" (junk and too small of a hole so it must be reamed) Bolt Catch with a bushmaster one - after another 1k rounds it hasn't even scratched the finished - and "X-38" one had big gouges taking out of it - BTW the safety selector and the bolt catch from bushmaster have a darker finish and it blends better to the dark teflon finish etc... The rest is perfect - and given the few small pieces I am very content with it, but I did have to take a bit to get it where I wanted... On another note I got a great kit from J&T but it was missing a few small pieces(bolt catch / safety selector / disconnector, Icalled them and they happily sent them out - running flawless L8r |
| I just got my varmint upper from model1. I was worried about customer service from some of the posts here but when I called, and I ended up calling 3 or 4 times, they were polite and professional and gave me all the info I requested and I didn't feel rushed. I got my complete upper within 2 days (2 days sooner than they said) and it fits great, I can't wait to shoot next week. |

So far I have had very good luck with them. 2 builds to date. The parts all had an excess of oxide on them, but that wasn't a problem steel wool didn't solve, and my gas block wasn't aligned very well on my second one, and that took just a couple minutes to fix. I would consider the Model1Sales kits to be just that: Fully assembled kits, that need to be gone through, and possibly replace a critical part or two, if they don't work well. |

My Model 1 pistol "kit" runs fine now..... replaced recoil spring w/ something else. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. But, sometimes you pay a lot and still have problems.... but the odds are less likely. How much are you willing to spend? That usually is the deciding factor for most on a budget. And that is why places like Model 1 are around.

I have learned enough about both Model 1 and M&A that I don't buy anything from them. I believe I can buy better parts, and get better service, for almost the same price, from lots of other vendors. And I believe that saving a couple of dollars is no savings at all by the time you go through the hassle of getting everything to work like it should have in the first place. My suggestion would be to try someone else. But everybody has a right to choose. |
| I built a varmint rifle with Model 1 kit ss hbar flued barrel it shoot better than I do. It's a keeper 100% better than my Ruger Mini-14 that shot about 3 moa. I can't tell any difference in accuracy between it and my Model 700 Rem. You can have problems with the best. |
