I bought a VTAC Hand guard without any rails and it came with a CARBINE LENGTH bolt on top rail from the same company. Well one of the items came with 7 little flush screws that fit in the top 7 holes on the hand guard. What I'm trying to figure out is did the 7 screws come with the Handguard or the Carbine length top rail? Did you guys get the 7 little screws when you ordered just the Hand guard? Also, am I right in assuming you don't loctite the inner nut? Is Moly Grease OK on it? Thanks. |

If I recall correctly the JP/VTAC handguard is secured to the outer nut in their set-up using six small flat-head screws. Those might be the screws you have there.
The carbine rail is going to have at least a few screws too though. Does the number of screw holes and the number of screws not match somewhere? Unless the instructions that came with the handguard say otherwise you should not be putting loctite on the inner barrel nut for this handguard or any other. |

I have a set of screws (6) that secure the hand guard to the barrel nut assembly. I have 4 screws that secure the carbine length rail to the handguard. I also have 7 little screws that should fit flush into the top seven holes that the carbine rail can screw into too. The reason I'm asking is if I sell one of the items I want to be able to package it correctly. |

Is the VTAC tube rifle length and the rail is carbine length?
The six angled head screws go with the tube to hold it to the outer nut - like you said. The seven round head screws go into the holes on top. They came with the tube. I guess they supply them with the tube so you have screws that fit even if you didn't get the rail. The other ones probably came with the rail since it is also sold separately. Use lock tite on the outer nut (the first one). Use moly grease on the inner nut, the second one. |
