I'm looking at the Larue/Harris combo for my SPR type build. What is more practical for prone shooting? 6-9in or 9-13in.
I want to be able to mix bench and prone shooting, but I don't want to have a gigantic bipod to deal with all the time. Right now I'm leaning toward the 6-9"in since it seems like a good compromise. What's your experience? Thanks... |
| I have the Larue/Harris setup in 6-9 inches and I never have a need to fully extend the legs while shooting off a bench. The QD larue mount is great, It's been on n off a hundred times and it's rock solid, never gets loose, never needs tweaking. I also have a TangoDown/VLTOR bipod on my HBAR, both bipods are great but the Larue/harris is definately the most versatile setup. Only thing I'd change if I had to do it all over again is I'd skip the swivel option. With a heavy scope up top it's not hard for a rifle to flop over, I had to torque mine down so hard to keep that from happening I can't loosen it by hand. |

I like 9-13... 6-9 you can't use a 30 rounder... 9" I never extend so quick deployment than extending 6-9" You sure can. Now, I must say I prefer to use 20 rounders when shooting off a bipod in any case. Whether you're using a 30 rounder with a 6-9 extended or a 9-13 collapsed the 30 rounder is going to have you up pretty high. |
| I went with a 6-9 but then had a problem that other people were mentioning, the 30 rounder didn't work all that great. It would sit on the clip instead of the stock and make it very unstable, but fixed that with a 20 round pmag like they mentioned earlier also. I tried using a bipod with longer legs but thought it felt "wobbly" or something. It just didn't seem all that sturdy to me I guess. Just my 2 cents! |

I've picked up a few 20 round magazines and now shoot with my GG&G bipod fully retracted. I think it allows for better accuracy. With the legs extended a 30 round mag fits, but 20 + short seems to handle better. |
