Hey guys first AR. Bought a brand new DDM4 V7. Field stripped it and the front of the bolt group looked super dirty. Is this normal for a brand new rifle and bolt group? I know it comes heavy greased but wanted to make sure the bolt looked normal and just needed to be cleaned. Thanks.

Yes that's normal, test fired at factory.

Looks like a combination of grease and factory test firing maybe?

Brass shavings from being test fired at the factory.

Yep.

Quit overthinking it and start shooting it.

Thanks guys. Haha I will shoot it this weekend. I'm going to clean it tonight for sure. I just wanted to thank you guys. I was paranoid because I ordered it online for a steal and since it's my first rifle I got a little concerned. I plan on posting more here and join the black rifle disease with you guys. Thanks!

Clean off the factory preservative, lube it (I like synthetic motor oil) and shoot it, shoot it, shoot it . . .

Nice rifle, the V7.  Congrats.  DD does it right.

EXACTLY no need to put out a bunch of money on the latest "snake oil" lubricant that makes all kinds of claims.
