| I had to remove the flash hider on my barrel today to install a rail and have a question about reinstallation. It had a crush washer on it and it looked fine so I reused it but I ended up torqueing it well past 50lbs and the flashinder is still a bit off(it's an A2). It's close enough that I'm fine where it's at, but is that too much torque(I know the TM says 15-20)? Should I take it back off and use a fresh crush washer or just leave it alone? |

I just installed one using a peel washer, and after I got it hand tight I needed to use a wrench to get it to Time perfectly which was about 15° from hand tight. Do you think this was too much torque? This is the proper way to do it. For the OP, crush washers aren't made to be reusable. Get a new one [or a peel washer]. Tighten hand-tight [after applying Rockset if desired]. (peel layers if necessary until 5-15 degrees from timed) Then use a wrench to tighten until it's vertical. |

I don't ever plan on taking off but good to know. |

Peel Washer = T limit , if you hit the T limit, and still not lined up, remove some of the peel washer, a razor blade and a Bic lighter help.
Crush Washer has no T limit as it crushes at a set T. A crushwasher is only good for 1.5 turns from contact (first time use) go beyond that replace the washer. |
