I'm planning to build a 20" rifle with an A3 upper and mounting an ACOG.  My question is, if I use a fixed front site, will it be in the field of view or does the the ACOG mount high enough to see over the front site.

On my 20" with ACOG, you can see it just a little but it does interfere at all. It is barely noticeable in my opinion. It is far below the reticle.

Thanks for the info, but Im thinking about going with a flip up front site.

Not exactly you're set up but it may still be of some use, I have a TA31 ACOG on my 14.5in LMT carbine and the front site post is barely visible.  You really have to look for it to notice the slight black blur.

I don't believe it will be an issue

ETA: As DonnieBrasco said it is far below the reticle.  I honestly do not even notice it.

I have a 20" with fixed FSB, compact TA47-4 on a carry handle, and I can see my front sight ghosting in the bottom of the field of view against a bright outdoor setting.

I'd recommend a flip up front sight and avoid the problem.

What's the power of the ACOG?  A mini with 2x=yes, you'll see it.

5.5x no,  you won't.

For what it's worth: if you need to use the irons, you should be at the point where you need to remove your scope. At least that's what my understanding of BUISs is.

If I look thru my ACOG's for the FSP then I'll see it, if I don't look for the post (eyes on reticle and target) then I don't notice it.

YMMV.
