Do they affect the actual volume compared to the a2 birdcage?  I keep hearing how muzzle breaks are louder, so I was wondering if the opposite would be true on such an effecient flash hider.

ETA: Think there's a difference between these?

midway's

Wilson's

Or should seeing the word 'olympic' in midway's description send up red flags immediately?

Tag for answer . . .

I thought the Vortex was made by a company named Smith Enterprises.

It looks like Wilson Combat is selling the original, but Midway is selling the Olympic copy.  I wonder how the two compare?

I plan on getting the Smith version for my SPRish rifle.  BTW, Global Tactical has them cheaper than most other places.

Of course, I shoulda figured Danny would be taking everyone's money for those as well.

Damn you danny, and your sweet sweet tactical goodness...

i believet hey are all the same, and made by Smith.

Some places just get theirs from a different middleman.

There are clones of the genuine Smith Enterprises Vortex out there, but the two pictured in the links above appear to be genuine Vortexes.

I was also suprised at the prices listed because my price is lower than those two.
I get mine directly from Ron Smith as I would presume that Wilson and Olympic do as well.

That's the last piece I need for my build, too.
