I bought a Yankee Hill Machine four rail free float handguard for my rimfire AR.

The local gunsmith is asking $75 bucks to do the labor on the handguard swap.
A couple towns over, there's a guy who'll do it for $40.
Keep in mind, the handguard cost $100 shipped.

I'm thinking this:
The DPMS .22 has no gas tube.  How hard could it be to take off my barrel and swap the handguard?  Shouldn't need a go/nogo spacer, right?

Is there a website tutorial with pictures on how to do a procedure like this?
All links/suggestions welcome.

Check the Build it Yourself forum for a thread on assembling an upper.  I would think it would be just like doing a .223 upper, minus the gas tube, which should be easier.
