First post! I have a question for CMMG (Or anybody else who could help) I have a new CMMG LEP II Gas piston M4 Carbine. Seems like a great carbine so far. Question is; what is the simplest way to mount a weaponlight on it? Now I am not new to AR's. I have been in the Army for 26 years and have built several gas rifles myself. I took a Surefire M 500A off of the gas rifle I sold to fund the LEP II, but because of the piston setup the M 500 wont work on the LEP II. Can I mount a Surefire X300 on the bottom of the gas block - or does it get too hot? If the gas block gets too hot, is there a way to mount the X300 on the handguard that comes with the carbine? I want to keep the weapon simple and am not looking to hang a bunch of toys off of a quad rail system. Great forum by the way. I have been lurking for quite some time......... |

I wouldn't mount the Surefire to the gas block simply because of the heat vs. Polymer.
If you have a standard carbine hand guard, the simplest way to mout it is with a short rail designed to fit the G.I. hand guards. It biolts through the holes. I believe BCM among others carry them. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Midwest-Industries-MCTAR-03-p/mctar-03.htm Dave |
