Hey Im sorry if this is such a noobish question, on thursday I recently got a bushmaster ar15 and I havent shot it yet but i was wondering what ammo i can shoot out of it??? My receiver says .223 and 5.56 but the barrel says 5.56 its a bushmaster xm15 e2s can I shoot both kinds of ammo out of it??? Sorry im very new to ar15's and i dont want to mess up my rifle    


I also am wondering if hoppes will destroy my gun if i clean it with that?

YEP you can shoot 5.56 and .223 withour any problems...

Barrel marking will tell you the actual chambering.  If the barrel is marked 5.56, you can shoot 5.56 or .223.

barrel says B MP 5.56 nato 1/9   so i assume .223 is fine for  my gun right?

Yes.

And Hoppes should be fine. I've been using it in my AR since I got it and haven't had any issues. I'd used CLP, but its not readily available short of ordering it so Hoppes #9 for now.
