Hi everyone

Been lurking for a while and and learning a lot and finally joined the web site the other day.

I have a friend who wants to sell me a Bushmaster XM 15-E2S that he says is a pre ban

The serial number is XX0956  and I did not X out the first 2 letters, they are actually X's

All the info i find says that the serial number should start with a LO and then 5 digits but this one does not

I have an Email out to Bushmaster and am still waiting for a response but I was wondering if any one here has any info to share on wheather or not this is in fact a preban or a postban.

Thanks for any help

Spanky

Saw that page but it only mentions Bushmaster numbers starting with a LO51XXX nothing about my number fits in there.

XX serial number denoted their 20th anniversary rifles  - which would have been around 1998.  So, not "preban".

Bushmasters of that era are pretty good rifles though

Thanks for the answer, XX for Roman numerals I guess, makes sense

My buddy has the original box, hard case, paper work and mag for it.

Can't tell fro sure how many rounds went thru it but it is supposed to be in excellent shape so I'm guessing not too many.

Do you think $1,000 is a fair price for a 20th anniversary Bushmaster ?

Thanks again

In todays market that rifle would do well to bring 700.

Same here.
Brand new Colts are selling for less than $1000 right now.  I'd put the fair-price at $600-$700

Any Bushy lower with the L prefix is machined by LAR and preban serial numbers for Bushmaster are 63000 and below.Even with the XX in the pre fix as long as the lower doesnt read BFI manufacturing with the 3D snake head and its just the 1 dimensional side view of the snake it should be preban. He lives in Conetitcut I think Colts are banned by name there wether its sporter or AR15A2 so certain pre-bans are not legal there I believe.
