| I looked at and used all of them before I bought mine. I chose the 2x. The eye relief and fielf of view was greater. 1.5 mag didnt offer me enought magnification for me to justify the price increase over something like an Aimpoint, and the 3x had such sort eye relief and small field of view that I felt I might as well just get a full size. So I went with the 2x for my compact. |
| I have owned all 3 powers of the compact acog. The 2x is the best all around, IMHO. I had the 1.5x first, and while awesome, didnt justify its own pricetag. I had a TA50R-4, 3x red crosshair, and it was an amazing optic. However, the eye relief was real short, FOV wasnt great, and the crosshairs are pretty crappy using BAC. The 2x triangle model is the best all around. The tip of the triangle is an excellent aiming point. If you need speed, just use the traingle like a dot on an aimpoint. Lastly, I had them mounted different ways as well. I have tried the LaRue mount for the 3x, and while neat, didn't give me the cheekweld I desired. I settled on a carry handle mount for my latest setup, and I think its the best. The cheekweld is great, its a bulletproof setup with instant irons. Its the best of both worlds. |
| 2X on carry handle for me. Get the red reticule. Mine is amber, only cause I bought it used on the EE. I recently tried it on the range from a covered firing position and the reticule was difficult to see while my TA31 did not have this problem. If used outside of a covered firing position, then there is no problem seeing the reticule. |

I'm also a 3x kinda guy. 2x just doesn't cut it for me. When used with the LaRue mount I don't have any eye releif issues. When mounted on top of the carry handle if you use a nose-to-charging-handle hold eye relief is useable. However, drilling a new mounting hole further back would help. |
