I'm thinking of plunking down the money for an Aimpoint setup. Thinking of going with a M3 (ARMS mount, 2 MOA) and the 3x magnifier (on the Samson Quick Flip).

My question is this: Do the casings hit the magnifier when its flipped down to the right? It seems close, and I've been unable to find if it does or doesn't. If the casings hit, then does anyone have experience with the left flip; does it get in the way of target aquisition? Any experience is appreciated.

On the right hand Quick Flip some shell casings can hit the rubber armor on the body of the 3x.  This rubber is very thick.  The 3x is mounted far enough forward that the casings will not hit the glass.   Remember too this is QD with the Arms throw lever and if you are mostly shooting close range(non magnified) just remove it.

Get the left flip only if you shoot left handed like me, otherwise get the right flip and don't worry about the cases, they'll never put a mark on it.

After seeing that picture, edwin, I'm sold! Thank you both for the info. Someone also sent an email and informed me of their experience with the Samson; I liked what I heard. Going to be ordering this rig in the next few weeks.

The Aimpoint 3x actually works better for me with the Eotech. The view is clearer  than the Aimpoint. Look at the Eotech and then look at an Aimpoint. The Aimpoint has a very faint tint to it. The Sampson R flip works great with either set-up. It was my personal favorite until I got my TA31-F. Like what was stated above, do not worry about shells hitting the rubber.

It was after fairly rapid fire at these 100 yard targets that I was sold on the Aimpoint/Magnifier combination.
Shooting as fast as I could put the red dot on the center of the target prone with the bipod I expected some fliers but didn't get any.
Just center the dot and squeeze, easier than my TA31 & TA31F even though I've blasted with the ACOGs more.
If you want a sighting system with a heavy emphasis on close quarter combat, the Aimpoint/3X/Samson Flip is a great way to go, if 325+ yard shots are more a concern, the ACOG.

Hit up Rob at Talon Arms.

Talon

Great prices on Samson hardware.

They've actually improved on the original Samson QF design.  They thickened the base mounting plate and darkened the flip paddle so that it's not the shinier chrome matte look as the original revisions were.  Here's a couple of pics of the QF.
