Hi,
I was looking at getting a trijicon 1-6x24 vcog but it's to far out of my price range. Is there alternatives for a low price. My budget is around 600-700. I have also kicked the idea around about a 3x9 scope and a rmr on a offset mount. Any suggestions are appreciated. |
| I'd suggest a Warne Tactical Ramp mount, a Burris Fast Fire III, and the scope of your choice. I've found a 1 X 4 sufficient for my needs. I'm running a Leupold Mark AR FireDot-G SPR. Since I got my set up several companies have came out with affortable 1 X 6 scopes, like Primary Arms. That'd be great too. Look at Nikkon, Leupold, and Burris for good glass. There're many other fine optice too. |
| Had a Burris 1 X 4 for years, served well without any problems. I just didn't like the reticle. Good products, good glass, and excellent customer service on another scope I had that needed repair. I've got a Votex PST 1 X 4 also. Excellent scope for a reasonable price with a 30mm tube. Almost bought another until a friend let me shoot his Leupold. Fell in love with the reticle and the green dot eventhough it only has a 1 inch tube. In decent quality glass it's hard to go wrong, so small things matter. Good luck on your choice. |

Consider the Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4x20mm with Firedot SPR reticle and true milrad turrets and reticle subtensions. It will be around $550-600. Because of the illuminated reticle, you really do not need a secondary red dot. Put it in a good QD mount, like the LaRue SPR LT-104. If you do want to run a red dot micro reflex secondary, Leupold's Delta Point fits in the LaRue LT-137, as would Docter, J-Point, Fast Fire and some others. That is a replacement for the right side front scope ring and contains a platform to mount the micro-reflex so that it is visible between the elevation and windage scope turrets.
If you want more power, go with the 3-9x version of the VX-R Patrol. About $600. That is what I run, and then you can put the mini-reflex in the LT-137. I'm waiting for the release of the new Delta Point Pro for that purpose. It should have a street price of about $400. The Patrol series scopes have motion activated fiber optic fed dot projection. This means it is on instantly when you pick up the rifle with no buttons to push. It remembers its last intensity setting, but can be manually adjusted and can be turned off for transport. The Delta Point Pro is supposed to also have auto intensity with manual over ride and otherwise like the Firedot in operation. |
