I saw someone post the phrase nose to the charging handle or some variation on that on a thread and it maid me wonder what the proper position was to aim an ar.Not having any training I just wonder if I learned an improper position for aiming.

Nose-to-charging-handle is generally done to ensure that your head is in the same place shot to shot, helping to keep your sight picture consistent. When I do it wearing shooting glasses I have a tendency to get the lens whacked by my iron sight, I may be doing it too close or something, not sure. You don't have to shoot NTCH, by any means, but if it helps your consistency, it should help your accuracy.

I have a 6position stock on my ar so I rest the corner of my mouth where the stock and buffer tube meet to make sure im in the same position every time.I just didn't know if there was a better way.
