Just bought a new Stag Arms 5.56 Model 3 (flat-top). Being a newbie to the AR-type I'm searching for the best-value optimal sights. I plan to use it for self-defense... but perhaps shoot an occasional varmint too. I like the detachable carry handle w/front sight & a rear...but also the flip-up type front/rear so to mount some optic later on to hopefully have both iron sight & optics(?).  First is to go simplistic and do a lot of target practice.  Basically I'd like some sight options/suggestions from you more experienced AR-types.

thanks!

if you're not looking for any magnification go with either an Aimpoint or Eotech.

Or you can go with a 1-4x scope to have the option of magnification or no mag

Practice with irons, them move onto an optic, red dot, etc.

I like standard front sight base with a carry handle myself.

Thanks guys!  I think I'll go with the detachable carry handle/rear sight & typical iron front sight first as suggested & do a lot of target practice.  Later-on decide what else optic-wise to move to, if any.
