I've been looking at the porn here for a while, hoping someday to have one of my own.  Luckily for me, my wife is a career Army Reservist and likes guns too.  She’s in a medical company and has wanted to improve her “soldier skills.”  She’s currently in Iraq, but gave me the OK to get an AR if the opportunity came up.  This past Saturday, I stopped by the local gun shop and got a Bushmaster XM15 A3 on sale ($850).  I’m pretty pleased (except for the weight of the HBAR), but we bought it to bench shoot, not carry.  As soon as I got it home, I popped off the carrying handle and put on a scope.  That’s when the “illness” hit.  It’s not going to be in stock condition by the time she gets her hands on it.  I have a strong need to modify it.  I’m justifying a M4 stock (since the wife and I have different arm lengths) and a bipod (so we don’t have to lug around sandbags).  I’m sure I’m doomed and will never stop tinkering with it, but I was wondering…

1. How difficult is it to replace the stock?
2. Will rail systems like the Bushmaster BMAS or the Knight's Armament RAS fit over a heavy barrel?

Thanks,
Joe

Replacing the stock is very easy ,so you shouldnt be ill for to long , take the time to get your seld a good manual. marine corp or US Army with the complete assembly they can be bought for around 10 bucks or less at any gun show, and also they can be bought off the web , and in CD formatt, also there are lots of web site that have the assembly pics you can print it just takes a few minutes of searching
