So the recent thread about offset dots and ACOGS made think about having an instant 1x option with my Razor 1-6x on my go to gun. I don't want the added expense or (weight)of a duty grade RDS, and since I believe in having BUIS on any serious use rifle anyways I am considering getting offset irons. I've never really liked the concept but I am seeing the utility of it, so I have some questions about usage before I spend money on them.

First question I have with the barrel rotated at a 45 degree angle does the trajectory change at all? With a 50 yard zero I can expect to about an inch and a half high at 100 yards right ( I understand that at 100 yards I should switch to magnification but just so I understand the whole effect in case of optics or mount breakage) and to be roughly on at 200 yards and 6 inches low at 300?

Secondly which ones work best, I do have a set of regular Magpul Pros, I figure I could get a couple of offset mounts and just use those would this in fact work or is something more purpose build be necessary? I also like the looks of the GG&G Rapid transition sights because they look fast and effective any user input on these? Is there something else I should consider? How prone to snagging on stuff are offset sights?

That's all the questions I can think of right now. Thanks for the responses.

Just leave your razor at 1x unless you are plopped down and need the magnification. Then put it back to 1x.

If the buis is a concern, spend the money on a QD scope mount and use your existing magpul pros.
