Hi,

Perhaps a silly question, but do the front and rear lens-cap assemblies come off? And if so, how? I'd like to position them so they don't open to the up position, but down and to the left.

Also, how long do you think the battery can safely be left in the sight when not in active use.

Thanks,
Anton

Yes they come off. They are just slid on, albeit very snug, so you can rotate them. Mine is an M3 2moa, but here is a pic to show you it can be done....

In answer to your battery question why not have the battery "in active use?"  I take that to mean have the sight on.  If you have an M3 or ML3 the battery life is 5 years on setting 7 out of 10.  I have spoken to reps at Aimpoint and they assure me there are no components that can burn out if they sight is left on and with the battery lasting 5 years you can just leave it on.

I leave my ML3 on too. I figure the rotary switch is more likely to wear out than anything else is going to fail internal to the sight. This is on my go-to gun, so I want very fast response w/o screwing with anything. BSW

Battery can be left in as long as its "good".  It wont hurt anything.  You can leave one in there for years if you want.

As far as the caps...just rotate them.  As noted, they are snug, so it may take a bit of effort to rotate them, but you won't hurt anything.  No need to remove them.

Hope that helps,
Scott
