Have a friend looking at cheap Colts.

I told him to just get a 6920, but he saw what he described as a Colt 'Sport' or 'Sporter' for $599 locally.

Can somebody tell me the main differences between the two?  I'm unable to find this 'Sport' model on Colt's website or anywhere.

Thanks.

LOL!  This is very possible.  And that's what I asked, but he said "No it's a Colt!"

Colt makes a Sporter 6920, the SP6920. If it is that cheap he should snag it.

Could be a "Colt" (actually made by Anderson) LE6900 Light Carbine. It is visually similar to and has a lot of the same features of the M&P15 Sport.

Used Colt Sporter would probably have an A1 or A2 upper.
Any chance he can send you a pic of the mystery rifle?

Not my pic.  This is probably what your friend is looking at.  Its the same thing as any other 6920, they have been out of production for a couple of years, I'd snatch it up.  Its model number SP6920, google it.
