I have a friend who wishes to switch between optics. He's looking at Larue's LT104 and was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative? The rifle is for hunting not Life Defense. He simply would like to have one scope zeroed for .223 and one for his .22 LR conversion. He'd like to switch between the two and not lose zero.
TIA! |

I don't get it, is he trying to switch his scope between 2 different guns and still keep zero? Because that's not possible...
And especially at different calibers. The bullets have different balistic characteristics that would make a scope zeroed for 223 useless for .22LR and vice versa. |

Zero the scope on one rifle then take it off and sight it in on the other rifle. Write down the position of the turrets. ETA - I've only tried this with LaRue rings. |

It doesn't get any better than LaRue. Other QD mounts that use throw levers are of similar price.

Errrm.... now that I'm kinda definetly sure is impossible. swapping out scopes onto the same mount and hoping to keep zero?
I'm pretty sure he wants two seperate optics with two seperate mounts to use on one rifle. |

I've dealt with them before. Use best offer instead of buy-it-now, and offer $150 to save quite a bit. Mount is very good. Maintains zero after detach/reattach. Left a gun in storage for 2 months and zero was still good. |

Check this thread out, view the links contained within, then make your decision.
ETA: or in this case, make your recommendation to your friend. |

Look into the Bobro.

He's trying to save money, Bobro mounts are considerably pricier with not much, if any, gain. |

Holy crap! Are you saying the mount is so good it can sit still and still maintain zero?!?!?! |
