It's pretty new, cleaned and lubricated.

I have a few rounds down range with a few issues during break-in.

When I cycle rounds through it, every second or third shell casing won't eject from the chamber, while the bolt is trying to cycle a new one in.

Assuming it's something with the extractor?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

I went to SIG's website, and see its a gas piston gun. Has what SIG refer's to as the (4 position) gas regulator been adjusted?

Thanks, I should clarify - It happens when I am cycling rounds through manually.
Going to range this weekend, but was just doing a function check.

Sounds like extractor losing grip on the cases during extraction.

Adjust regulator to correct position, minimum energy for function.

If problem persists, it could be a defective extractor and/or you need more extractor tension.  I don't believe the Sig uses a balanced extractor and piston ARs are well known for an abrupt operating cycle with high bolt velocities.

Are you cycling live rounds through your rifle?  That's a BAD idea.  Dummies are THE way to go with function checking.

I don't have a 516, but I have a 716.  I'll bet you're not letting the carrier do all the work in stripping and feeding rounds.  Normally, the bolt captures the rim with the extractor as the case stops in the chamber, but if you follow with the charging handle even a little bit you can prevent that from happening.

ALWAYS use dummies for function checks, and ALWAYS completely release the charging handle [u[]rom the fully retracted position[/u] when charging an AR-type rifle.

Thank you and yes, using dummy rounds - checking function.

Good to hear.  Any AR-type rifle can give you trouble if you ride the charging handle - even a little...
