The front take-down pin hole on the lug is recessed for the early 601 detented front take down pin.   Will work with standard pins too.

Counterbored on left hand side for early style pivot pin which had a spring loaded ball that fit snugly in counterbore/rebated groove.  Look at the upper guide on first couple of threads or tacked section at top if you want a picture.  Milspec changed to modern style pivot pin with detent and spring in lower sometime around late 67 early 68.  Basically means produced 1967 and pryor usually denoted by a black coated lug on a greyish receiver if not re-finished.

Will the uppers work on a modern lower?
Are pivot and takedown pins still the same dia.?

Yes the same.

USGI uppers will work on the modern lowers.

Except for the civilian SP1's as noted in our IM.

Saw that coming.  They should be GTG and they are black.  Either re-arsenal or replacement parts. Price was pretty decent and seller has great rep.  Enjoy the builds.

I'm really surprised to not see anything about this in Ekie's variation guide. Figured there would be a few comparison pics in there.

It's definately in Elkie's carbine parts guide section with pics but you know the difference anyway.  Aren't you glad you don't need any uppers?  I thought about buying them just to buy something but the grey one was really calling my name.  Too much hassle for a MO right now for me and I just put together two CH codes out of boredom.  Come on spring time.

you're almost cured of rbrd if getting a money order was the only hurdle to getting something

i bought one last time around so i could justify not picking one up this time.

Don't drive so it's a hassle for someone else if no ppal or cc allowed.

I bought some when they were much higher and ppal was accepted also.  Never had a CK forge yet.  As stated I have two very nice CH codes ready to go and really isn't much difference in them.  Probably have $75ea in the CH codes including small parts shipping.  Doubt if I'll ever be RBRD cured but there is remission.

I guess I did not even look in the Carbine guide, just the rifle one.

I can most definitely say I am cured of my RBRD, that is unless IA makes SBR legal. If that happens I'll be back into building, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. So maybe it is just in remission?

I'm looking forward to being cured soon.  It's the last few pieces that are driving me crazy.

How many now?  20  When did you quit the first time? 3

Think I'm gonna start building Gun Cabinets out of my retro Black Walnut stash for a little while but I still can't stop buying this stuff so I'm probably not in the total remission stage.
