With steel cased ammo being more available and cheaper I am thinking of shooting some of that monarch stuff from academy through my Stag for practice but I have heard don't do it. Others say they will shoot it all day long. What my question is will the lacquer coating melt and  get stuck or gum up in the chamber and never come out or will it clean out fine? If it will clean out and not be permanently stuck in the chamber then i think i may give it a shot.

Nope, its not the coating that gets the chamber dirty, its the carbon from firing the shell. The steel case does not expand as much as the brass case does and will leave a gap between the chamber and the case. This gap allows the dirty gasses to build up in the chamber.

Try it, some rifles like it, some dont. Just dont shoot brass after steel without scrubbing the chamber or you will get stuck cases.

Russian Ammo. is cheap for many reasons, dirty is just one of them. Good Luck.

Yes, it might just take a little elbow grease.  I shoot steel cased ammo all the time in my Colt without problem.
