Anyone know a source for an KAC M4 RAS hex bolt? Lowes and Home depot had nothing. |

Actually KAC/KMC customer service is getting much much better. 772-562-5697 Ask or either Jeff (sorry forgot the last name) from KMC (the civilian sale side) or if nothing else works ask for Dave Lutz himself - as he will go out of his way for people. (and consequently boot a little ass there too) -Kevin |

Thank you for the recomendation. I found some at Tacoma Screw Products in Olympia. The screws appear to be called... STEEL BUTTON HD SOC C/S #10-32 X 1/4 PLAIN Upon comparison the new one looks a hair longer but seems to fit fine. I bought some extra so I will send one FREE of CHARGE to the first FIVE people who send me a SASE. You can email me at [email protected] for my address. |

You can use a standard hardware screw as suggested above, just don't over tighten it. The factory screw is a more corrosion resistant, but the big difference is the "nyloc patch" applied to the screw threads. This patch allows just a "light tightening" to keep the screw from loosening, and its pretty good for 3-5 re-assemblies. After thast, best to get a new screw with a fresh patch. If you want the inch-pound torque settings, call me at (772) 562-5697 ext. 239. All that being said, you probably have access to some Lock-Tight, obviously this will work with either screw. Reason for the complexity, is that the RAS was required "not to be removeable by the Soldier". However, those of us who want to use their M4 RAS on their SIMUNITION uppers or something else, want to move them around--and we don't require permission from the Sgt. Major as we are civilians. Just don't use the "long arm" of an Allen Wrench to tighten the screw, use just the "short arm" between your fingers--and when you start to feel a little pain--its tight enough. ColdBlue sends... |
