Building a RECCE...I need optic suggestions. 50-300yd work, CQ work done with a back up Triji red dot. Budget is under $1400 with mount.
My top 3 considerations in particular order: 1) Nightforce 1-4x24 on LT-104 2) Leupold Mark IV 1.5-5x20 on LT-SPR 3) Trijicon 1.25-5x24 Accupoint on LT-139 Looking for other options from the optic gurus. |

For 0-300, the Trijicon Accupoint with the triangle/post is PERFECT.
BTW, you need a 1-4 model, the TR24. Forget the TR21, which is the 1.25-4 model you listed. Zero the TR24 at 100. Right below the tip will get you hits at 200, and the bottom of the triangle can be used for 300. When put to 1x and run at 0-50 yards, it behaves as close to a red dot sight as you could want. Plenty bright. I just picked one of these up (TR24, red triangle/post reticle) and I couldn't be happier. In short, you won't need any backup red dot sight to run in conjunction with it. Just turn it to 1x and enjoy. |

Im sooooooooo pissed. I just wrote a rather lengthy post talking about each of those scopes. I have all three. When I hit submit, it went no where and now its all gone. Grrrrrr. Maybe another time I will post it all again. Here's what it came down to.
I like the ACOGs, then the NightForce, then the Leupold. All are good optics, but the ACOG does the most the best in my opinion. And I dont think you need a back up red dot with any of these. Thats the idea behind these optics is that they work well up close as well as out to mid and mid long ranges. |
