Does anyone know if any site sponsors carry redi-mags? I am not interested in redi-mods, unless someone can tell me why they are almost a hundred bucks more. I know they are cut out to reduce weight, anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Brownells has them. I have been considering one, but they are currently on backorder.

+1 Sig, I have a dremel, and it doesn't look real hard to cut out the same areas, grind the edges down and have it re-parked,dura-coated,etc...And surely wouldn't cost 100.00 to do either???

Is that sarcasm???

Blue Force charges WAY too much for what they do.  You can do it yourself with a dremel.  I got my Redi-Mag straight from Boonie Packer, FWIW.

Using a Dremel to take off the lower half is quite easy and probably removes most of the unneeded weight. Cutting out the little squares isn't going to remove much more weight and requires a bit more patience.

Agreed.

I just run mine as is, nothing chopped out.  It's not that heavy.  Then again, mine is on a competition rifle, not something I have slung all day long.

There was a post of someone doing it themselves with a Dremel. I'll see if I can find it.
Besides the lighter weight there's also something about how the mag release works.

ETA- Couldn't find the post with someone doing it with a dremel. Also disregard my info about the mag release,
the post below me is correct, they are only offering quick release and screwed on versions now.

They have two new models replacing the original four variations. The price has come down considerably.
Check Boonie's website.
