The Trijicon "Ruggerized Miniature Reddot", aka, RMR is a pretty durable sight.  Aside from having a tough tempered glass lens, its housing made of 7075 forged aluminum is designed to direct impact forces away from the lens.

This is a test conducted on the oldest model, the RM01 which is LED powered and comes with a 4 MOA dot.  I've got a the newer version on order (RM07, with manual brightness adjustment as well as auto adjustment) and the 7 MOA Fiber Optic/Tritium powered version in stock.

Thanks for sharing.

I just picked up a RM04 and it's one badass little sight. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Tell me about it!

Luckily, that's not my rifle and not my sight.... but the owner of said rifle was more than happy to drop his rifle three times optics down for my sake, haha.  Didn't have the camera the first time

I've got the original RMR 4MOA LED sight from when it first came out, and it has been totally reliable.
The more I use it the more I like it.  I really don't feel like it needs adjustability, it is always properly illuminated for me.
I do have good sensitivity to red, unlike a surprising number of shooters out there.

I'm thinking the RM07 is gonna be a big hit as I feel people kinda want the security of having manual brightness adjustment.  But, even the standard RM01's got 2 years battery life....  2 years for a red dot sight is approaching Aimpoint territory, and the Fiber Optic/Tritirum models have even longer staying power.

Not so long ago the only options for mini red dots were fragile things.  I'm glad Trijicon came to the rescue

That's interesting. Everyone keeps telling me that green is the best colour for human eyes to see but I too find red far better...................but then I howl at the moon too.........

Needs to take a trip down the driveway or it doesn't count! :)

Really nice to see something like this. I had an old doctor sight and could never trust it to survive such a drop. Very nice to see the RMR is up to the task.

Thanks for the vid.

maybe i'll buy a primary arms micro dot and do this just for fun, it'd at least be cool to watch it shatter

IIRC, the ability of our eyes to pick up colors goes something like red-orange-yellow-green-blue, red being the easiest.  That's why yellow "fog" lights are sometimes perceived as being able to better "cut through" fog and so forth.  It can't, but it is easier for us to see.  It's also why orange-red is often used in automobiles for controls.  It has the least detrimental effect on our night vision, so we can still see the instruments without losing our vision outside of the vehicle.

Blue is THE WORST color, despite many feeling blue works better in snow.  It doesn't.  Same with "blue" tinted headlights (HID kits).  I've often wondered why some new cars are going to blue interior gauges (Honda), but I guess it's because all the kids modify their cars to "look cool".  I understand why, and it does look cool, but it's detrimental to your ability to see at night.

That's a 11.5" barrel with a 9" Daniel Defense LITE rail.

The RMR is a tough sight, I knew it was going to pass a drop test with flying colors, but you never know until you know...

Now everyone knows!
