Do I need a mount for my M4 for an EoTech holosight? I have a standard A4 with flat top. Any help would be appreciated.

No, unless you're going for the 1/3 co-witness.

So it'll just mount right on top correct. Thats what I was thinking but thought I'd ask before I go buy it.

You won't NEED one, but you'd probably prefer one.  A mount like the LaRue allows you to peer over the top of the rear sight, and have the front sight sitting low in the Eotech window.  However, it still allows you to use the iron sights in a pinch.

Well as of now I dont have a front sight, got the weaver gas block and was going to pick up flip up front and rear sights. So say I wanted to purchae the eotech now, it'd be ok if I don't pick up the mount for the time being?

So an eotech on a A4 with a YHM flip front will give me an absolute co-witness?

If you mean centered, yes as long as both are zeroed to the same distance.  The thing I like is that on fast acquisition, you don't need to look thru the sights or the center of the eotech as long as the reticle is on target.

You don't absolutely need the mount for the EoTech.  Lots of people mount directly to the receiver with no problems at all.  A mount like the LaRue will allow you to use the Eo while placing the irons in the lower 1/3 of the Eotech's window....like WorstCaseScenario posted prior.

It is a better picture for using the irons should your eotech go down for some reason and I prefer having my eotech reticle above my front site post.

But, all that being said, you are fine buying the eo now and getting a mount later.  I would buy a front and rear sight before the eotech, but just my 2 cents...

It is far more comfortable to have the 552 type EOTech sit a little higher than stock. I much prefer the 553 I used to have. But the stock height is what I've trained with so it works for me. And, it was the cheapest route...

I run the RRA dominator with my Eotech. It gives a lower 1/3'd co-witness.

I like it

Good luck

As other have said, no, you do not need any special mount to mount an Eotech to a flattop upper but that said, I like mine a lot better up on a LaRue mount which does 3 things...

1. Raises the sight higher so your head can stay more vertical in the shooting position.
2. Allows you to mount the sight (particularly the "AA" models) a little further forward which helps with sight picture IMO
3. Allows you to quickly remove\reinstall the sight with no lose of zero.
