My girlfriend bought me a stripped RRA lower. It was fairly easy to assemble but when I tired to put my 3 years old RRA upper on it wouldn't close. I also tried a Oly upper I had laying around. No go. I can mount the uppers if dont use the take-down pins by simply put them together but the take-down pin holes seem to be off. Anyone else have a similar problem? |
| Yes... While it may seem to be a problem ..It really isn't. I had the same problem. I saw where the contact was happening. I took a smalll fine file to the Upper rear pin lug. I filed lightly on the corner's that was hitting ( dragging ) on the lower's radius milled slot. It didn't take much for mine. NOTE: I didn't file any of the SIDES>>>>>> I filed the rear corner's (2ea) closest to the butt stock. I barely broke the corners with a file and it's now nice a tight but opens just fine. Many have had this tighness issue . It took me a total of 1 minuet to take care of . I would think this is what your experianceing. But do double check. Cheers WarDawg |
| When I got both an RRA lower AND an RRA upper recently, I had to get a little help getting the two together. It's a "feature" of RRA lowers that they are pretty tight, especially at the pivot and the takedown lug. Using a little bit of grease and some pressure (not impact) got the two together without removing any material. Now it opens and closes without any problem. |

Thanks guys I don't have the upper I want to put on it yet. Since the uppers I do have don't seem to fit the lower well, I will wait until I get the upper I want (RRA 20-inch). The grease and gentle pressure option sounds like the best idea. I will try that first. |
| Mine was overly tight. I could get it together but it took a rubber hammer to beat it back apart. You had to beat it togther and beat it apart. But yours might not be as tight as mine.. It took a lite file to get mine to be fitted properly. From what I could see ..from mine was they needed to mill the lower radius cut a hair bit farther..... Hope all goes well. WarDawg |
