I am about to order an RRA 9mm upper for a preban lower that I just got.  I am thinking of adding a suppressor.  Is the flash hider treading the same as a .223?

Thanks in advance

I believe RRA follows the Colt pattern here.  The thread on the 9mm barrels is NOT the same as the .223, as they didn't want some lowest-common-denominator-type screwing on a .223 flash hider and trying to swage a 9mm bullet through it.

9mm is 1/2-36, .223 is 1/2-24 (IIRC).

Colt 9mm thread is 1/2-36.  They used the same on 7.62x39mm barrels as well.  I use a AAC Phantom threaded 1/2-36 on my RO635 upper (10" 9mm) and it works great.

9mm uppers ar 1/2x36tpi, .223 uppers are 1/2x28tpi.  I confirmed that with Eric at ADCO a week ago, and it is in the FAQ thread at the top if you forget [;)]

I need to let the coffee kick in before posting stuff in the A.M.  I knew something didn't look right when I gave 1/2-24 as the thread size for the .223, but submitted before I could dredge the proper info out of my soggy old brain.

Yes, the correct thread is 1/2-28!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the polite correction, and I will second the use of the AAC Phantom.  I also have one that I use on a 9mm upper and it works very well.
