Looking to purchase some spares. Is the RRA bolt and BCG a good choice?

I believe RRA just uses CMT's bcg.
CMT is decent, but if I had to buy one, I'd get a BCM. They're even in stock. |

I have both LMT and CMT SA BCG but my personal preference is my LMT because the gas key is properly staked.
Bravo Company have some LMT SA BCG in stock but I'm not sure if they have the old forged gas keys or the new MIM gas keys (see ref. LMT MIM gas key thread link below), most of the members here including myself prefers the old forged gas keys. The higher end manufacturers ship AR-15s with FA carriers, like Colt for example. |

really? I want to spit..... . Had several FA bolt carriers including an experimental aluminum one which was supposed to change the cyclic action. Thought ANY FA parts would run you afoul of the BATF. Traded 4 FA for 2 SA to avoid the machining. Apparently, didnt deal with a reputable person at the time..... cripe..... Well, good to know! Thanks! Wayne |

right. they are a little heavier because there is less machine work done on them. machine work costs time and tooling.
one part number is much easier to deal with than two part numbers. less logistics hassle. Of course, some people pay good money to get their bolt carrier wittled on so that it has less mass. And they do it for good reason... Its all about the money, honey, and its not always about the dollars, its about the sense. Brett |
