Sorry for double posts.h.gif

Hello all - I have an RRA LAR-9 Complete Lower Half with a Gemtech Talon/Trinity
complete upper. The Gemtech is a 51/2 inch threaded barrel. It was installed by my class 3's gunsmith. I am a beginning USPSA member getting ready to compete. I'm too old to win but not too old to have fun. I want to convert the 9mm into a .223. I'm told by my fellow members it's not complicated, just remove the 9mm barrel and replace with a .223 and remove whatever was placed inside the .223 mag holder and I'm in business. Well, you're the folks that would know, better that the shooters I've spoken to. Whacha think? All responses with be welcomed and appreciated.

I would recomend leaving your 9mm upper alone.  Don't mess up a good thing.  Get a new or used 5.56 upper or get one off the EE.

Now you will have a mag block in the lower you will need to remove, and might need to change the bolt hold open.  The 9mm buffer should be fine, but just make sure there isn't a spacer inside the stock(unlikely)  The 9mm hammer should be fine too, but probably better to change it out on to be on the safe side.

Prior post is correct.

You can sell the 9mm upper on the EE and purchase a 223 upper. The reasoning is, you will have to remove the deflector, install a new port door, and if your 9mm was built as a dedicated, it is likely that it has no hole for the gas tube to pass through. Not that it is hard to do, just easier to buy/trade for 223 upper. Just my $.02

Have fun competing, Show 'em what us old guys can do.
