A buddy of mine picked up a brand new RRA Predator Pursuit this morning. He's giving it a good cleaning tonight and he's having a major problem getting the bolt to close. He says it's stopping just short of going into battery and he has to push hard on the forward assist to get it to close and lock (chamber is empty). Once closed, it's hard as heck to open. He has to brace the butt against his chest and pull on the charging handle with both hands to get it open . He didn't take the bolt or firing pin out when he cleaned it. He just pulled the bolt carrier out, cleaned/lubed it, and reinserted it. Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it (short of sending it back to RRA)? Thanks. |

I don't know. We're meeting at the range tomorrow morning and I'm going to take a look at it. He said after dropping the bolt a few times it eventually started closing and locking, but it's still needs a stout two-handed tug on the charging handle to open. I'm hoping it's just really tight lugs that need a little wear in. |

I found on my RRA it would hang up occasionally. Have you bud seperate the upper and lower fully. Then replace the upper but insert the rear takedown pin first then the forward. I also found too much lube can have the same effect. RRA machines the lower and upper to fit nice and tight. It also took some break to get it running smooth...and when I say smooth...mine is starting to fell like silk. If the problem keeps going talk to Steve in the industry forum. He can get it squared away in no time. |
