| I searched this and had no luck. I am looking to buy an off the shelf gun (I am building a separate one too) and it is between RRA Coyote Carbine 16" or the Bushmaster Predator Camo. It's mostly for predator hunting and I noticed that the RRA is a full pound lighter but was wondering your guys opinions? I don't own an AR yet this will be the first. Thanks |

Both are very good for the money. RR has wicked rep for their varmint guns, though. I bet Adco has them in stock, too. I have both BM and RR rifles, not those though. You'll be happy with either and would probably never know the difference. When you do choose, before you take it home, have your gunsmith check the bolt carrier group to make sure the gas key is properly staked (assembled). You might not know what that means, but I hear more people bitch about the quality of their ARs based on that simple little detail that has a 5 minute fix than anything else. Good luck! |
| I have a 20" RRA Varmit. It can shoot the balls off a nat, very good quaility. I have a 20" Bushy with a heavy barrel. I haven't shot it yet but I can tell you the fit isn't as good or as tight as the RRA and the action doesn't feel as smooth. I'm sure the Bushy will be fine after I break it in but the RRA is a little better IMHO. |

I had a Bushamster Dissipator for several years and it was a fine rifle. Never had any problems out of it and it was as accurate as I wanted to shoot it. My RRA M4 has a better fit and finish than the Bushy counterparts I have owned or used. To me RRA is the better choice but either will serve you well. |
| Rock River Arms, hands down. I had experience with both before I chose RRA. RRA seems to be built to better quality standards, I love their lifetime warranty, and their accuracy guarantee. Bushy feels cheap, only one year warranty, no accuracy guarantee, at least this was the case when I made my purchase in early '07. RRA might cost a bit more, but worth every penny. |

Please share with us whatever it is you base that statement on. There are a few brands that are considered by many to be the "cream of the crop" and bushmaster is not one of them. I am not knocking Bushamaster at all, I own a Bushmaster and I own and RRA but to say Bushmaster is the standard by by which all other ARs are judged is a bit of an overstatement in my opinion. ETA: OP, personally I would go with the RRA, but that is just me. You enjoy either one you pick. |

COLT; There are a lot of good rifles out there, I don't own a bushmaster, but do own a RRA. It's a great gun. So is my Armalite, and so it the Colt. Each one is dependable, and each shoots better than i am capeable of. By the way if your any bigger than a pop can/ soda can for those from the east. and your anything inside 225 yards you are toast. I like them all. |

I'm going to add that I see innovation with RRA's Bolt Carrier Group. There are a few parts in their BCG's that stand out, or at least show RRA is trying to make good stuff (staking aside - the staking was there, but it wasn't super-duper - which is fine, as it does engage the sides of the gas key bolts). Bushy, though, does use quality materials. I know some rifles come with cheaper handguards, but the Bushies come with some pretty strong ones. And there's just something about that snake on the side of the lower... guess us Stag guys are a little jealous ... Don't forget to look at a total Stag rifle, though, too. CMT makes some quality shit. |

I have 6 Bushys, so I will not give an answer. Of the 6, one is a Varminteer (24" fluted non-chrome match barrel with mated bolt and a 2 stage trigger) which is a silly-ass accurate rifle. The V-Match (which is just their 20" HBAR chrome lined NATO) will easly shoot sub-moa groups with decient ammo. Example, I shot 60 rounds of Radway-Green SS109 into under 2" at 100 yards one day goofing around. 60 rounds is a LOT for a group, the barrel gets pretty hot and the eyes get tired, and Radway-Green SS109 is NOT match ammo. There is a reason I have 6 Bushys. BTW, the other 2 are Colt 6920's. Bill |
My Old A1 20inch Bushy rack grade First 3rds of Federal 69grOTM went into a ragged hole shooting PRONE and used a 3.5-10x scope arms #2 WALLMART rings Now running a DEFENDER 2000 M4 14.5 SOPMOD Home made Bushy/VLTOR /LMT 14.5 I miss the OLD A1 20incher alot |
| Personally, I believe that Rock River makes the nicer AR. But you can't go wrong with either one. They both make excellent products. Tomorrow I'm going to the range with my Rock River and I am meeting some kids there, one of which owns a Bushmaster. We'll see which one can hold its own in sleeting, 20 degree fahrenheit temperatures. |
| Are any of your Bushies gas piston? I just bought a Bushmaster carbon and i wanted to add a gas piston retro kit Bushy/ares or maybe even get the whole bushmaster gas piston upper! My local gun shop told me that bushy gas pistons arent good but only they have told me that! Whats your opinion please! Does anybody own a bushmaster gas piston and if so, how reliable is it? Thanks guys just trying to make the right decision. Will the carbon material be ok to install a ares gas piston? Sorry i am a beginner and just trying to get some sound advice! Im really set on a gas piston though! I will be buying a POF but i also wanted a bushmaster! |
