Got a scope I was going to mount on my new gun but the rings aren't high enough even with the carry handle off.

Grab some high mount/see thru rings or what?

I'd use the absolute lowest rings that will work. The RRA Tactical Carry Handle is a pretty high mount as-is. A solid cheek weld is going to be very difficult to achieve.

Yes, when mounting a scope on an AR you need a set of rings/mount that is designed to be used on an AR.  Larue makes the best mount IMO, but there are many options available from other makers that are less expensive and will probably be good enough.  Bear in mind that in addition to the proper height you will also need to have the correct eye relief.  Many scopes will require a mount that shift the scope forward some over the handguards.
