Trying to decide between a DD LITE rail and a Larue rail.  Does either offer any significant advantage over the other?

I don't believe in sacrificing quality for affordability.  That being said, I don't think either of those companies can justify charging twice what a lower end brand would cost.  We are just talking about a rail system right.  Whether it is free float, or other wise, I don't see what a rail made by one manufacturer can do that any other can't.  The only difference may be what?  2 ounces in weight.  I went with YHM without reading any reviews or any of that, I looked at the price tag, then held it up to my rifle.  I couldn't be happier.

I do realize there are some guys out there that money truly isn't an issue, and I salute you.  If you are in that category then my post may be as helpful as an answer from Yahoo.  Hope I helped though.  Good luck

This won't be a popular answer, but honestly shop around and you can find exactly what you want on even....<gulp> EBay. I just bought a Knights Armament M5 RAS for my A4gery for only $150 brand spanking new. Knights sells these rails for $395 and that is not with the complete rail cover set like I got with mine. Shop around and you can usually find a good deal.

Theres nothing WRONG with YHM, per se, but there is definitely a quality difference between them and, say, Larue or DD (and yes Ive owned both).

And I disagree with the price comment as well.  After purchasing the cheaper YHM when I first got into the AR world, it has been switched to Larue, and I dont regret it one bit and wouldnt think twice about paying for a Larue again.  Lifetime warranty, solid lockup, "to spec" rails.  These things can take a beating.

As for DD or Larue...flip a coin.  Youll end up with a top notch rail either way.  I went with Larue because of the lower rail being equal length to the side rails and not lower like the DD. It felt more comfortable to me, but as always YMMV.

I bought a DD Omega X FSP rail.  I am using a Noveske recon barrel so I am not using a Front Sight Post.  The gun has a hole one the top of the rail which is fine with me since I am not going to use it and I paid 180 dollars for it from MidwayUSA.  RainierArms also has the rail and those guys are great to deal with.  I bought my recieved set and barrel from them.  I bought a YHM rail cover, because it is very hard and not flexible like the DD ones, to cover it up.  I love the streamline look of the OmegaX and it is very easy to install.  Palmetto state armory has the DD Lite wrenches in stock.

I have a Yankee Hill rail on my dedicated ar22 I hate the thing, it feels like im holding the wrong end of baseball bat. I have a Larue 9.0 on one of my 16" carbine I do like it, the 3 and 9 o clock rails are of a lower profile and it feels better with the slimmer profile. I like it enough that I would consider another one, Daniel Defense has the same profile on many of there rails.
