I'm building an AR with a mid length hand guard.  I want to put a rail on the bottom so I can put a verticle grip on and a tac. light in front of it.  I'm not going to heavily use this weapon or assault any mosques with it and I'm trying to keep it simple and light.  What is the best rail to attach to the hand guard and how long should it be to put both these items on?  Is what I've descibed going to work or are these "bolt on" plastic/metal add on rails junk?  Any experiences or suggestions welcome.  Thanks

I have a GG&G "UFIR" on my M4 handguards, and it works just fine with a foregrip and a light. I got mine from Brighflashlights, a dealer here.

We have a high quality CNC machined aluminum rail that bolts under the original handguards.
(made in USA, by Midwest Industries ---  not chi-com stuff)
It is $19.95, and works very well.
