I'm in the market for a front sight base mounted rail piece. Must be 4 rail sections wide. The Midwest Industries offering is the only one I have found so far. Anyone have experience with these? How securely does they mount to the FSB? Opinions?

Are there any other options out there? I don't necessarily need rails on two sides...anything that would cut back on weight would be welcomed.

I had one of those to mount a handgun light/laser to the FSB on my AR pistol.  Worked as advertised.

Thinking about using one with an offset light adapter on a carbine because the light is too close to my offhand thumb even at the end of the rail.  Now I see the point of midlength rails on a carbine...
