Ok, I have decided to go with Larue Tactical for my rail.

I have a Bushmaster Varminter with a 24inch barrel.

Which length rail do I go for? 12.0inch or 13.2inch?

Thanks in advance

IF you want to keep the front sight post then you must go with the 12.

If you want to shave the FSB or replace it with a low profile unit then go with the 13.2"

Well then the question is answered...

Okay is there anything really gained with the extra inch and a half?

Weight?
Go with the 12". If you do not have a low profile gas block, the longer one won't work.

Since you have a shaved FSB Odds are the longer on WILL fit over it (measure then ask - I'm sure Grant or Wes will know for sure).

The longer one will cover the gas block (and IMHOH look better), and will allow you to mount a Troy flip up front BUIS an extra inch out (extending the sight radius).

If you don't plan on using any BUISes then I'd agree with STRIK and go for lighter.

If your rail/handguard covers your gas block it will protect it (somwhat anyway) from impact.  I don't think that the 1.2" of extra handguard will add enough weight for you to notice.

I forgot the Bushy uses a shaved gas block on that model. it should work fine with the longer rail.
My guess is that you are running this rig with a scope and no BUIS correct?
The 12" will work fine, but covering up that ugly ass gas block is never a bad idea.
I still vote 12" though.
