nice pics, but sorry this isn't a range report.  We need more info!  How many rounds did you fire?  Did you have any malfunctions?....etc.

Give him a break!  PLZ

I have a 551 eotech on my Bushmaster/VLTOR lower with a LMT M4 upper

I zero at 50 yards and I use my range bag as a rest

With a rest you should with Good Ammo like BTHP have all rounds touching!

Good luck  and have fun

good shooting, did you shoot with the sights co-witnessed?

I'm sorry guys for missing info.

ammo was xm193 used for sighting in my Eotech. I only used I box to sighted in. The 4 shots inside the circle was the last 4 rounds. No malfunction, everything was great, I love BM M4.

The thing that stands out to me is that you have XM193.

I'm jealous.

I'd say you've got some practice to do.  Either way thanks for the report!  Also good looking rifle.

Not to bag on you, a hit's a hit. But judging from your pattern, you need to concentrate on either your breathing, sight picture, or quit looking up at the target after each shot. Trigger pull looks fine. Also, for a better zero use a target that is smaller. I use a paster for zeroing. Also, if you don't shoot much, fire 20-30 rounds at an alternate target first to "settle" your brain, body position. and trigger finger in before zeroing. I am not flaming you, I just hate to see someone settle for "good enough" when their equipment can do better.

YMMV

You guys need to lay off of him a bit hinking.gif  It looks to me by the way he circled several two shot "groups" he was SIGHTING IT IN just like it says in his post.  You guys are waaaaaay to fu<king critical on this site

+1

Did everyone miss the part where he was sighting in.  If your sighting in targets don't look like that too then you either let someone else do it for you or you are a liar.

BTW, nice rifle.

I try to be as positive as possible, and thought that was a constructive post. Even if you are sighting in, there are certain indicators of less than perfect form. I am familiar with his equipment and it's capabilities. I was simply trying to help the man out. I assume that he posted to get an evaluation of his target. That's what I did.  This isn't the Barney "let's all love each other, everything is perfect" website, this is ARFCOM. We help each other, even if it's through constructive criticism. If he takes my advice he will be at least one step closer to being a rifleman, and I am far from being an expert.

nrode,
My "sighting in" (zeroing) targets don't look like that, and I'm not a liar. Obviously you don't practice much. Making banging noises with a gun does not equal practice.
YMMV-

yup, I'm not a pro at shooting this thing, it's new to me. So, If you don't like this thread then you don't have to respond to it, leave it alone. I just want to post to let you guys see it, like it or not i don't care.

I'm still in the learning mode, you are correct on everything. Breathing control, sight picture, I need to learn, it will take a lil time but I'll catch up. thanks

Wow.  I remember when you could get it for almost half of that.  But, it is good ammo and I'd probably pay that for it.  (as everyone starts to flame me)

R600, I wasn't saying you are a bad shot. Far from it. You are connecting with the black. Your groups show you have natural talent. You just need to get together with a good shooter and learn. I wish my first zero target looked like yours. Unfortunately, I am not a natural shot. I had to work to learn each fundamental. I also have to practice to gain and keep my "edge". That being said, I can hold my own. I have been lucky to have several world class shooters for friends, who were willing to criticize, troubleshoot, and even poke fun at me. I chose not to get my feelings hurt, and to try extra hard to be competitive.

It worked for me.

Best Regards,
Garanditis

His grouping is good so I wont hate.  I will say tho that generally we strive for 5 of 6 shots in the circle before we are "zeroed"

Ok My 2 Cents.  I think both the OP and the quoted reply are informative and in the spirit of sharing of information.  The OP posted his report and another poster offered some ways to improve his shooting.  This would like showing someone how to read a target at the range or offering a little coaching.  Great posts both of you.
I need to do more work with my rifle and carbine.  I train heavy with my pistols and revolvers but not enough with the long guns.  I like the coaching tips.  Alos, BZ on sighting in with your choice of load regardless the price.  I see a lot of guys shoot box after box of reloads or wad cutters then load up with their "carry ammo" and head for the door.  I have range and play ammo, but I have sighted my defensive firearms with what I carry and usually shoot a mag or cylinder full last at the range.

Final question, do any of you use the laser bore sight then shoot to tweak?  I have one, but have not tried it yet.  Of course I have not adjusted since I sighted mine in and as bad a shooter as I am the POI is the same regardless of ammo.  Granted I am shooting at 25 meters at an indoor range.  They all stay in the 8-9 rings or head of B-34 @ 25 meters but no clover leafs yet.
Great posts both.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I have a good target for 25 meter practice, I'll try to scan it and send it to you if you want. Just print it out and copy as needed.  No, I haven't used a laser boresighter, but the idea makes sense. (probably saves ammo, too)
