Equipment used: HBAR6601 PMAG, Black w/Window Rem UMC 55gr FMJ fodder A2 front sight adj. tool, non stainless Results: PMAG-Loaded with 30 rounds, had NO problem sliding the mag home, latched easily. Downloaded to 5 rounds for target shooting it locked the bolt back each and every time, as well as having a 100% feed success rate. I even used the PMAG as a mono-pod off of a table for 5 rounds, again, flawless operation. Dropped free when empty yet fit in the mag well very snugly. PMAG experience, EVERY POSITIVE! Rem UMC-Functioned 100% of the time, good experience HBAR6601- Was hampered in the accuracy dept. by the user. Flawless otherwise. Seated position 33 yard groups ran around 2-3" 5-shots. A2 sight tool- FULL OF FAIL. It would not adjust the sight until I bent and tweaked the tines and THEN only if I depressed the detent with a bullet and THEN used it to adjust. Trying to improve it's performance, I managed to break one of the tines. I felt no great sense of loss. Pass on this one, use the $7 to buy yourself lunch after your range day. PS. The PMAG also fit flawlessly in the bushmaster 16" that I tried it in as well. Just tried for fit. I am impressed with it. It looks, feels, and works like a component of a weapons system. Not a disposable item used to support a weapons system. |

Some people have reported some issues with UMC ammo but I've shot quite a bit of it with no problems at all. I think it's reasonably good for the price, but if you like UMC, you'll love Federal American Eagle. I've found it to be somewhat more accurate and costs about the same. Try some of those UMC 45 grn HP's on groundhogs sometime. They're vicious. |
It was just what I had on hand. I buy whatever is cheapest that isn't crap (Olympic, ect.) |
A bullet tip is the "right way". UMC is good clean ammo. However, my AR's have never been too impressed with them accuracy wise. |
I shoot a 20" 1/9 HBAR Bushmaster. UMC's been reasonably accurate enough for popping woodchucks and pumpkins. I figure once I get a scope on there I'll see a real difference in the accuracy. |
