Well two days ago, on Friday I went and picked up my complete upper from CMMG. It's a 14.5 inch with 1.5 inch Phantom, 1:7 twist. Tossed it on the lower, which I built myself, and went shooting this morning. This is my first AR so I was pretty nervice, specially since I built it, wasn't sure if it would blow up in my face or run smoothly. Thankfully it did the latter of the two, and ran absolutely perfect. I ended up shooting 240 rounds, and I didn't even have to touch my irons or my Aimpoint. The only blemish on the day was that while taking off my Aimpoint mount with the aimpoint in it, the mount slipped sending my Aimpoint onto the shooting bench and then onto the concrete below. I checked it out, and it looks like the mount took the brunt of the fall(corner was dinged but no marks on the Aimpoint). I fired another 20 rounds to see if it held zero and it was still in the same spot. So all in all it was a great day and I'm very happy. Just finished cleaning it after an hour and a half and it's all put away til next weekend. I just have one question though. Do you guys think that fall hurt anything in my Aimpoint?? I know they're tough and supposed to take a beating, but watching that fall made my stomach churn. Apothus |

I feel your pain, and know that feeling in the stomach. I didn't drop an Aimpoint, but I dropped a $750 precision laser meter the first week I owned it (I use it for work, and bought it on my nickel). By the grace of God, all is still well with it some four years later. I am glad to hear that your Aimpoint held zero. I am planning on getting an M2 or CompM4, and it sounds like I am on the right track if they keep tickin like yours did. Congrats on the new rifle and nice set up. You have already completed part of the "clean, lube, repeat." |
