Today I took both of my ARs out to the range today. The bushmaster had to come because i put a DD 12" rail on it so i had to sight back in the irons and sight in my M4s sittin' on it. Also took my newly built rifle (Noveske lower with a DD parts kit, and a Bravo midlength barrel with a PWC comp, cut and welded at 14.5") I just got a T-1 for it about 2 weeks ago so I was giddy with excitement to go try out my new rifle and to shoot the bushy with all the stuff on it

I sighted the bushmaster in at 50 yards with irons using steel cased monarch till i could consistently hit quarter size 5 shot groups, then sighted in the m4s (omg what a red dot!) the 2moa dot on the M4s coupled with an aimpoint flip to side (both on larue mounts) shot beautifully! I took her down to the 100yrd range and got it too to where i was consistently shooting 5 shot quarter size groups (this was done with lacquered steel wolf hollow points). And for a final test I ran 2 boxes of 60g Nosler Federal Premium Vital Shok through it at 200 yards and kept about (estimating here cant remeber) 35 or so of the 40 rounds in a silver dollar size group. (made me happy)

Then I got to pull out the new rifle and take her for a spin. In it i was running a GTS Super Duty Ion Bonded bolt with a spikes heavy buffer out of a mid-length bravo barrel with a PWS compensator looking through a T-1 and for magnification the Aimpoint flip to side.

(some company sent me 2 magpul front MBUS's so i couldnt sight in my irons on it but that didnt stop me from playing)

I quickly (2 boxes of the wolf ammo) got the T-1 on the paper and in quarter size groups at the 50yrd range. The PWS comp, and the buffer make ALL the difference comparing to my bushy (which is a carbine length gas system). Then I went to the 100 yard range to get a little bit more tight in my groups with my Aimpoint magnifier (now shooting XM193) and wound up loosing track of 4 hours worth of time lol at the end of the day i had 5 ragged holes on the paper each with silver dollar size patters. Finally before i left i took my new baby over to the 200yrd range threw in a victory dip and shot another 40 rounds (this time hornady 75g tap) and Ill say they should have been quarter size groups but i think the dip made me a little too shaky other than that....they were in the silver dollar

All together i shot:
40 rounds of 60g Nosler Federal Premium
40 rounds of Hornady 75g tap
60 rounds of Steel Cased Monarch
about 400 rounds of Lacquered Steel Wolf Hollow Points
and 400 rounds of XM193

I had a good day today

that all being said, i did try shooting some (2 boxes) of the Lacquered Steel Wolf Hollow Points through the new gun and I was having feeding problems, not cycling, the bolt went back just fine, it just wouldn't feed the lacquered cases into the chamber all the way (they went in usually about half way to 3/4 quarters of the way in).......this was the first 40 rounds i put through the gun so im not sure if it was just a breaking it in issue or not (i ran out of lacquered steel wolf to keep trying), other than that both guns ate, and i mean ATE, everything i fed them

To the arf.comers i have to say i felt pretty educated when the RSO was telling me its probably because the first 3 or 4 rounds of wolf ammo i ever put through my gun clogged the gas tube and that gas tubes get clogged all the time from steel cased ammo

But again, like i said, i had a great day today getting to really take them out and have some fun! Hope some of y'all did too today

I went up to a class III range today and rented an automatic MP5 as well as a Glock 18, needless to say I wasn't grouping anywhere near a quarter on fully auto :] (The bad guy was sure as hell dead though!)

Also, the MP5 really impressed me, the trigger is very crisp, and on semi-auto I made one big hole at 25 yards with iron sights. (I had never shot an mp5 before, the gun outshot me)
